ASIA’S BEST BISAYA TALK SHOW HOST
Davaoeño content creator Chito Samontina was chosen as Asia’s Best Bisaya Talk Show Host at the 7th Asia Pacific Luminare Awards (APLA) for his popular Bisaya talk show CHITchat.
APLA is an organization that searches for outstanding individuals and companies across Asia, including industry titans, entertainment and cultural artists, corporate heroes, and environment advocates.
APLA said recipients of their awards are selected from candidates nominated by the awards council who are mostly peers from the same field or beneficiaries of their works. The APLA awarding ceremony is slated on May 26, 2023 at the Okada Manila.
“Nagsugod ang CHITchat last year, March 2022. Pinaka una nakong guest si Rowell Divina. Phone palang akong gamit ato. Karon, more than 30 episodes na ang CHITchat. Mga ilado man o dili, basta naay inspiring story ang usa ka Bisaya, gusto gyud nako na ma-CHITchat,” he shared.
He added he was not expecting for an award-giving body recognized him as Best Bisaya Talkshow Host. Samontina emphasized that this award humbled and inspired him to continue what his doing.
His show, CHITchat, has produced 30 episodes and has over 20 million combined views on social media. The Bisaya online personality recently reached a milestone as he breached the 100,000 subscribers mark on Youtube. At present, he has over 1.2 million followers on Facebook; over 436,600 on TikTok, and over 26,800 on Instagram.
